ZNAPD is working with disabled people in Zambia

Zambia National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities (ZNAPD) is a mass membership organization that was formed in 1981 with the aim of fostering and promoting the welfare and interests of persons with disabilities.

The organization was formed under the Act of Parliament Chapter 558 of the Laws of the Republic of Zambia of 1968.  Henceforth, ZNAPD is a legal entity which is guided by the national laws.

The organization is a non-political, non-profit making charitable organization with a membership totaling over thirteen thousand (13,000) members around the country.

ZNAPD, though autonomous, falls under the Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health (M.C.D.M.CH) which is the line Ministry regulating and governing social organizations like this one.

Through amendments of the Zambian Constitution over years, government has repealed and enacted the Disability Act of 1996, which is one of the best in the Southern African region.

On the other national level, Zambia is a signatory to the Convention of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) which was ratified in 2010.
